RESOURCE CLASS

School: Riley Street Middle School

Teacher: Mrs. Hibbitts

Organization-In order to ensure middle school success, our students must stay very organized. This remains true in every class and with every teacher. It’s every student’s nightmare to be unable to turn in a homework assignment that he or she knows was completed. Our job is to make certain this does not happen. We check folders and agendas daily, verifying that assignments are written down, completed and filed in the proper area. I check lockers and folders to make certain “everything has a home.”

Core Class work-Each day we set aside time to study for tests/quizzes and work on projects in class. I will also go over any homework they have questions about how to complete it. They should plan on still having 30-40 minutes of homework each night. If this time exceeds one hour on a regular basis, please let me know. Some adjustments and accommodations should be made here at school.

Family contacts-It is my hope that I can facilitate teacher/family communication so that each of you feel well informed on the education of your child. Each Thursday I send home a Progress Report which will list current grades and any missing assignments. This report needs to be

signed and returned on Friday. You can also reach me by e-mail at chibbit@hpseagles.net if you have any questions about your child's progress.

Grading-Students will earn points in this class by filling out his/her agenda daily, keeping organized folders, having homework completed, using class time wisely and being respectful to their classmates, teachers and self. Points are averaged for a letter grade.
